Out of my Hat is going to be a blog about creativity, living in Spain and raising 2 tri-lingual children while running a company. It is my intention to show what we do every day with very little means and I will describe daily life, culture and art in Valencia.
My name is Alex Fried and was born in Sweden. After high school I moved to New York and did a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Art History. Feeling homesick and wanted to be closer to home, I began a PhD program in the UK in 2001. Spending my mid-twenties working toward a PhD and living in various European cities, I met my husband and we decided to move to Spain and start a family. Arriving in Valencia with our bare hands but a clear vision of what we wanted, we set out to realize it. Surely there have been bumps in the road and few things have come served on a platter. At last we have opened up a workshop which will function as the creative and intellectual platform that we have envisioned.
